Franco Zeffirelli was an Italian film director, producer, screenwriter, actor, theatre director, dancer and pianist. He had one of the most successful careers in Italian film history. He was one of the most influential directors of Italian cinema and is considered one of the greatest film makers of all time.
His production of Romeo and Juliet is considered a benchmark in the history of film.
In the film industry Zeffirelli went from the low budget film of The Godfather to a major success with his 1982 film The City of Women, which is considered one of the greatest films of all time.
He died in Rome on September 2, 2016, at the age of 90.
